The legislators then called on the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Momoh Jimoh, to launch an investigation. Subsequently, reports began to emerge that the National Assembly might take over Kogi state house.

Lawal had also accused the governor, Yahaya Bellom of withdrawing his security attaché, thereby exposing him and other members to the threat of attacks.
However, Lawal’s media advisor Felix Udebu disclosed that some of the security personnel withdrawn on Tuesday were returned to the speaker’s residence on Wednesday night.
According to a Vanguard reporter, the security operatives were returned to Lawal’s residence on order of the Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase.

In a repeat of the 2012 assembly crisis, stern looking police officers who claimed they were acting on orders from above chased out the assembly workers and sealed off the premises.
They also padlocked the front gate of the assembly complex located along Hassan Katsina road.
Governor Yahaya Bello is determined to stay away from the controversy
Commissioner of Police Besan Gwana said the police operation became necessary after the police received reports that unknown individuals were planning to start a public disturbance.
Governor Yahaya Bello has distanced himself from the assembly crisis, noting he never interfered in the affairs of the legislature in line with his determination to promote the rule of law and strict adherence to the separation of power.
