An Orile-Agege customary court was told by Mrs Temitope Salaudeen how her husband constantly raped and beat her up.
Mrs Temitope also prayed for her 10-year-old marriage to be dissolved.
The 32-year-old trader who resides in the Agege axis of Lagos, pleaded with the court to dissolve her marriage over alleged rape, battery and threat to her life.
She told the court that her husband is a wife beater and treats her like a slave. “My husband rapes me anytime he feels like having sex and does not care about my feelings or my emotions. He sold some of my jewelries without my consent and steals my money at will,” she added.
Temitope said that the greatest mistake she had made in life was getting married to her husband Alilu Saludeen. “I ran away from the house sometime in November 2015 with my children because if I continue living with him, he might beat me to death one day,” she said.
A customary court in Orile-Agege has heard how a wife was constantly raped and battered by her husband.

The mother of two, aged 3 and 6 years, pleaded with the court to dissolve the union and grant her custody of her children.
However, her husband, Alilu, 39, a building contractor, denied all the allegations.
He said: “I have not beaten her before, she starved me of sex for one and half years despite the fact that we were living in the same house.”
“She hides her phone from me and I did not sell her jewelries neither did I steal her money,” Alilu added.
He told the court that he was still in love with his wife and not ready for dissolution of the marriage.
The court president, Dr Kayode Whenu told the couple to maintain the peace and adjourned the case till Feb. 23 for further hearing.
In the same vein, a 39-year-old school proprietor, Hassana Yusuf on Thursday, February 18 told an Igando customary court that her husband, Adisa, once entered her mother’s room stark naked.
According to The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the complainant came seeking the dissolution of her 11-year old marriage to Adisa Yusuf.
The case was first mentioned on Dec. 16, 2015.
At the resumed hearing of the case on Thursday, Hassana accused her estranged
“When our third born was sick, he wanted to go out and I refused to allow him. I said that our child must not die, but the next thing I saw was that he stripped himself naked.
“He was naked in front of our children and went to meet my mum in her room stark naked. My mother had to cover her eyes.
“If I agree to keep providing for the family, there won’t be any problem, provided he would be nice to me and the children.
But since I have refused to keep shouldering his responsibilities, he became a demon.
“He said he will kill me and take over what we both laboured for; he boasts that nobody will question him,’’ she said.
The complainant also told the court that her husband was in the habit of accusing her of infidelity.
“My husband is suspicious of my moves; every man I talk to is my boyfriend. He has no trust, whatsoever, in me.
“ There was a day we fought and he hit me with a nail on my head,’’ she said.
Hassana also said that her husband does not show her any care during pregnancy.
“I have nursed every pregnancy myself, as if I impregnated myself. I do the naming ceremony myself. It is only our second daughter that he footed her bill.
“On more than three occasions in 2012, he abandoned me and the children. He once left the house for a year,’’ she said.
The respondent, however, denied all the allegations. He said: “I had to show my mother-in-law what her daughter normally does to me whenever I tell her there is no money. She usually stripes me naked.” Adding: “That was why I went to her room naked.”
“I earn N30, 000 every month and I give her everything. Does that not show my love for her and the children?’’ he told the court.
Adisa accused his wife of unfaithfulness, saying: “She has so many boyfriends, I have evidence to show that she is unfaithful, my fellow landlords are her boyfriends.’’
The respondent said that he doubts the paternity of their last child.
The union which was consummated in 2003, , is blessed with four children.
Having heard from both sides, the court president, Adegboyega Omilola, ordered the couple to attend another Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) meeting on Thursday, March 3.
Omilola adjourned the case to Tuesday, June 28, when a final decision will be made.
