People are saying this is what is wrong with the US education system

This math question above was posted on Reddit by one of its user who said it was reportedly sourced from an American elementary school quiz. The math question has since gone viral and is turning heads all over the internet.
The question was:

“Marty ate 4/6 of his pizza and Luis ate 5/6 of his pizza. Marty ate more pizza than Luis. How is that possible?”

The pupil gave the most obvious answer:

“Marty’s pizza is bigger than Luis’s pizza.”

Since the size of each pizza is not designated, the pupil thought it made sense to assume that Marty’s pizza would have to be bigger than Luis’s pizza.
However, the teacher marked it as wrong, along with a note:

“That is not possible because 5/6 is greater than 4/6 so Luis ate more.”

The question seems to test kids on a concept known as “reasonableness.”

A Reddit user named akatherder said:

“What you’ve identified as a problem with the argument is almost certainly how it was phrased in class all week and the teacher keeps it consistent for assessment purposes.”
“With the information at hand, it isn’t clear that the student understands the topic at hand.”
“They did not demonstrate an understanding of the “Reasonableness” topic.
In fact they ignored a given/assumption (that the pizzas are the same size) to make an unreasonable answer seem reasonable.”

What do you think the right answer is?
