APC chieftain killed in road mishap: Governor Fayose mourns

Governor Fayose on Monday, March 14, described death of Gbenga Olofin, as very sad and unfortunate.

Olofin, a chieftain of the APC, died in a fatal motor accident along the Benin-Ore road on Saturday, March 12.

Fayose made remarks on the tragic event when he paid a condolence visit to the Onigede of Igede-Ekiti, Oba James Aladesuru, Igede in Ekiti.

The governor said Olofin was “a very formidable man, a man of strong will and a wonderful friend who believed in achieving whatever he set out to achieve.’’

Fayose said he was in Igede Ekiti, home town of the former ambassador, to condole with his family, the oba and the entire people of the town.

Governor Fayose has described the death of Gbenga Olofin as sad and unfortunate.

“I am unhappy and I have come to ask the Oba and the people of Igede to take solace in the fact that it is God that giveth and it is God that taketh.

“He has gone; we will go and join him when our own time comes, so, God will grant his family, kabiyesi, people of Igede Ekiti and the entire Ekiti people the fortitude to bear this loss, it is a great loss’’, he said.

PM News reports that Oba Aladesuru appreciated the governor for his visit, saying that the deceased was very close to the palace and was a strong pillar in the town.

He expressed dismay at the fact that death took him away not quite long after he retired from his place of work.

Gbenga Olofin was APC’s senatorial candidate for Ekiti Central in 2015 elections.
