Kano Pillars coach Mohammed Babaganaru says his team needs to improve its defence if they want to be contenders for the league this season.

Pillars defeated Akwa United 3 – 2 over the weekend, has not stopped Babaganaru from asking his team to defend better if want to stand any chance of winning the league onnce again.
In a post match briefing, Coach Baba Gana said that much work is needed to be done in the teams’ defence which cost them the goals conceded in the match against Akwa United who just got knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The 2014 league Champions were given a run for their money by Akwa United at the Sani Abacha stadium, where Rabiu Aliyu’s superb hat-trick stole the show for Northerners.
Although Micheal Ibe Okoro had given the visitors the lead after 10 minutes Rabiu Aliyu equalized four minutes later.
Aliyu made it two in the 26th minute and just before half time Ubong Ekpai restored parity making it 2 – 2. Two minutes into the second half Aliyu completed his hat trick to earn a 3-2 win for Pillars.
Kano Pillars are second on the log with 10 points from 5 points trailing Rangers with goal difference with same games played.
