The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a woman identified as Saratu, for allegedly burning the private parts of her seven-year-old nephew, Razak Qudus with a stove after he was accused of stealing N100.
According to a popular daily, the victim, who is a primary four pupil in a private school, lived with the suspect in Afariogun, Oshodi area of the state.
It noted that Saratu’s neighbours alerted the matter to a coordinator of the Child Protection Network, Ebenezer Omejalile, living in the area, who alerted the police at the Makinde Police Division, Oshodi, and Saratu was arrested.
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSRVT), is currently on the case while the Schoolboy is in government’s custody.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, who confirmed the arrest said the suspect rubbed pepper on the boy’s genitals and started beating him before he fell on a burning stove and incurred burns in his private parts. Adding that the suspect has been charged to court and remanded in prison.
